Background
Cyclin D2 (CCND2) is a gene that encodes for a protein that functions in the regulation of CDK kinases in the cell cycle. Fusions, missense, nonsense, and silent mutations are observed in cancers such as esophageal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer. CCND2 is altered in 1.38% of all cancers with colon adenocarcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, breast invasive ductal carcinoma, testicular mixed germ cell tumor, and rectal adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations. CCND2 Amplification is present in 0.89% of AACR GENIE cases, with colon adenocarcinoma, testicular mixed germ cell tumor, breast invasive ductal carcinoma, rectal adenocarcinoma, and high grade ovarian serous adenocarcinoma having the greatest prevalence.
